New Year, Same Me

Hello Again!
Well, it’s been a minute since I’ve written to you all, but I am happy to share that I have not stopped making art. My last blog post was in August of 2023 - I wish I could go back and give that version of myself a big hug. I am awfully proud of her - she knew that she was in the process of transformation, and although I think I am always constantly evolving, I am happy to share that I have completed that transition.
A lot has changed since we last spoke. I applied for grad school! Got accepted! And differed! I found a job I LOVE! Moved to a new apartment! And purchased my dream car. (Of course Junebug had to get a shoutout - don’t be silly)
With many things changing around me, there has also been a lot that has stayed the same. My curiosity for the world around me is still at its peak. Although I have explored many different techniques, I still enjoy creating in the same art style and meditative flow. And of course, I have yet to update the numbers on this font. I’m sure I’ll get around to it at some point, but I have other priorities first! Like sharing MORE ART!
I’ll be honest, there are many posts from the past year that have sat in my drafts. I hope to reflect on them and find the words to adequately express what I was feeling at the time. So, be on the lookout for more posts. Until then, with joy I present to you some of my creations from the past year.
I am proud to share that I have started attending poetry classes. Writing is always something I have enjoyed. Many of my pieces are accompanied by poems, or even just one liners that I feel permeate to the core. I am excited to continue to nurture this craft. The first class I attended focused on Mother Mary. I feel like I could write a whole blog post in reflection of that class. I will surely find a space to share my poems on my website, but until then enjoy this garden I created. In class I learned there are two main ways to connect to Mary: one is the rosary and the other is planting a garden. Well instead of planting one, I painted one! Nonetheless, I think Mary would be quite pleased.

Next up, a small collection of paintings I made while visiting my family in Florida. I spent one of the days collecting shark teeth with my sister. There is something very meditative about shifting through rocks and shells, followed by an enthusiastic rush when you finally find one.

I also created a small set of paintings while I was at the airport. I love traveling with my watercolor paints. There’s just something easy about cracking them open and diving in. The sun was setting as I gazed out the windows and captured the colors I saw. A calm blue transitioned into oranges and yellows as the sun descended from the sky. I poured water into the top of a Pringles can and got lost in the colors until it was time to board my flight home.
Last but not least, my vision board for 2025.

My lovely friends and I spent New Years Eve crafting away. As you may or may not know, my deepest joy is bringing the artist out of people. It felt like the perfect culmination to a wonderful year where I got to take on a job doing just that.
I hope this new year brings you inspiration and success. Remember to dream to the max. Celebrate the life you have. Find intention in every breath you take. Balance beneath your feet. Joy in every step. For you are highly creative. And with this energy, you will thrive.
And if you don’t feel like you are quite there yet, don’t worry, the time to bloom is yet to come. I hope you finish this winter in a way that restores your soul - rest, recover, and remember: the sun will shine again soon <3
Xoxo,
Brooke
